Saving Files

Each day and more often when you've done a lot of work you don't want to lose, save your files to:

bullet My Documents also your Samba Drive (H:)- first location where you should be working and Where I will grade your files
bullet Your computer hard drive (C:) - A backup in case the server goes down or there is a problem.
bullet 3 1/2 Floppy Drive (A:) or Flash Drive (OPTIONAL)
 

At end of day to copy files from My Documents to the C drive, your folder:

 

1. Click Start, My Documents

2. Right-click on the folder you want to save.

3. Choose Copy

 

4. In Address box, select down arrow and go to Local Disk (C:)

5. Then open YOUR FOLDER

6. Right-click white space on right, choose Paste

 

7. If you already have a copy on the destination, the Confirm File Replace dialog box will display. Make sure that you are copying your latest work and that you won't replace a file you worked on later with one you haven't completed.Click Yes To All if you want to replace the folder and all the contents.

8. Click No if the file you're copying is the older version.

This Confirm box is OK. Notice that an old file (Oct 17) will be replaced by a newer file (Oct 30).
