All Classes - your first deadline and quiz is in one week (5 class days to work) This includes personal assignments. The lab is open every morning from 7 am and after school Tuesday through Thursday until 4.

Required Whiteboard Assignment, Email Subject: My Progress

Tell me which class you are in, what page (or lesson) you are on now, what you have left to finish before the deadline (Monday, January 29), and what you are going to do to get everything done. (before, after school, work at home) Don't forget Personal Assignments if your class has them.

For example: I am in Intro to Computers and on the Excel Lesson 20. I still have to finish the rest of the web design lessons and Excel lessons 20-24. I will work hard in class and if I am not finished with Excel by tomorrow I will come in before school Thursday and Friday.

Answer from Friday: 2,1,3,4;1,2,4,3;3,4,2,1;4,3,1,2

1/19/18 - Remember Friday free time is only the last 30 minutes of class and only if you finshed the required posted here. If you have not met the requirement, you should come in next week before or after school to get caught up.

Intro to Computers- When you create your user account for code.org, make sure you sign up for the Web Page Design site with your real name. I will be grading your work within the Code.org site. Make sure to start on Unit 2 Lesson 3. You can change this by clicking your name in the top right and then change your display name.

Optional Whiteboard: Email Subject: Candy or Points

Every square in the grid will contain a number 1-4. No number can repeat within any column or row.

The numbers in each heavily outlined set of squares, called cages, must combine (in any order) to produce the target number in the top corner using the mathematical operation indicated.

For example the 4x boxes would need to be 2, 2, and 1(you figure out the placement.

Email the answer reading the numbers from the top left, across the top and then down, left to right.

Answers from yesterday - 1. jumping to conclusions, 2. six of one half dozen of the other, 3. kitchen sink, 4. wolf in sheep's clothing

1/18/18 - If you have a missing assignment or a grade lower than 79% you can redo the assignment.

Many of the whiteboards I post are optional. This means you can choose whether you do them or not. They give you an opportunity for extra credit or candy(sometimes both). Use your brain and not your search ability to solve these whiteboards.

Email Subject: Candy or Points (tell me which you want; you can't get both on this one)

What is the missing number? Explain the pattern.

Answer from Friday: I have a spelling checker; it came with my PC. It plainly marks for my review, mistakes I do see. I strike a key and type a word and wait for it to say whether I am wrong or right, it shows me straight away. As soon as a mistake is made; it knows before too long and I can put the error right; it’s rarely ever wrong. I've sent this message through it, and I am sure you’re pleased to know, it’s letter perfect in every way; my checker told me so.

1/12/18 - If you missed the quiz yesterday, take it today.

Required Whiteboard below. Full credit for finding at least 15 errors. Candy if you find them all.

Email Subject: I Can Spell

The poem to the left amplifies why you should proof read carefully and not just rely on a spell checker to proof your work. If you copy and paste the poem into Word you will see that Word finds only 6 errors. However, there are many many more. Send me an email with the subject: "I Can Spell" and rewrite the poem so that it has correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

1/11/18 - Procedures and syllabus quiz today! Make sure you have had an email sent from your parents for the syllabus to syllabus@jacomputers.org. Remind them if they have not sent it yet, it is due today.

To begin your quiz: First look at the number on your computer monitor base. You may use my website to help you answer the questions on the quiz. You may not talk until everyone is finished with the quiz. When you finish your quiz, continue working on your class from where you left off yesterday. At this point you should be finished with the common assignments and working in your class.

1/10/18 - After you complete the whiteboard email below, continue working on your common assignments.

To see a map of how your files should be saved in Intro to Computers, click HERE, for Office 1, Click HERE.

SAVE EVERYTHING TO THE Z DRIVE!

ASK FOR HELP if it is not clear how you should be saving, this is very important.

This info is also under saving documents on the common assignments.

Don't forget to continue to read the instructions. And now for the email assignment: Email Subject: Top goal. Tell me what your biggest goal is for the rest of the school year and how you plan to accomplish it. For a complete grade there should be no spelling errors, proper sentences with capitals, punctuation and all that fun English stuff. If you want candy today don't say anything about candy to anyone, tell me how sweet you are as part of the same email. There is no maximum or minimum length. Don't forget your full name as a signature.

1/9/18 - Welcome Students. Each day you're required to read the whiteboard page. Here's today's:

Send me an email. Use your preferred email program (gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc). Tell me a little about yourself in ten complete sentences. Even if you have done this in the past, tell me 10 new things about yourself(be creative but not TMI). My email address is always at the top of the whiteboard page (use the @ sign instead of the word (at)). My email address for class is jdavis @ jacomputers(DOT)org. DO NOT send email for class to jdavis @ jajags. You receive credit each day for doing the whiteboard assignment unless it says it is optional. Optional whiteboards will be extra credit. You always should include a subject for your email and your name at the bottom (this is good e-mail etiquette as well). If I do not give you a specific email subject use: Whiteboard (Date) so today's email subject should be: Whiteboard 1/9/18. Today, I'll give a piece of candy to whoever adds the phrase -- "please may I have candy" to the bottom of the email but you must have all other parts to the email correct to get the candy. I will typically give out candy the next class day. After you do the whiteboard each day, work on your common assignments until they are complete, then you will begin your class assignments. So today, go back to the home page and then after the word Common, click on Assignments (these are due by or before January 11). When you are finished with the common assignments, go on to the assignments for your specific class.
