Korrak aint that hard with 15 guys dieng en fight and dieng and fighting^^. He kills me (60 Pally) with 2 hits :D

- After seeing many high end polearms in game have very little way of competing with the high end 2h Axes, I'd say this is a nice change.
Yah, Doomsaw is fine, but the proc isnt that often, but it looks good.
I like the authentic Polearm Look of this weapon over the Doomsaw - which I think looks too much like a sword with a long handle.
I was using Peacemaker prior to getting this (preferred the +1 crit over the rare proc of the doomsaw). IMO this is the second best Polearm in the game (PVP Honor system reward Grandmaster's glaive being the first). The epic drop in MC is total crap for max damage and cannot be enchanted.
As a guy that prefers polearms to 2h axes, and has been playing this game since closed beta last April, I'd like to thank Blizzard for placing a decent alternative polearm vs the Reaper in the game. Even if the look and stats of the Reaper are nice, this Polearm adds another option to the game for attainable high end weaponry.

This looks like an attempt to make warriors not get the Arcanite Reaper. Yes the Reaper is better, but not that much. Most warriors have the Cookie Cutter Arms/Fury spec, which inclues Axe spec. That is why they put recent changes to Fury, trying to round things out a bit, instead of half the lvl 60 warriors have AR with Valor gear, wish i had 10silver for every time ive seen that.
When i get this spear, im respecing to polearm spec, it will be perfect to get to lvl 60 with.

I'm like the other player up there - i cant seem to EVER find anyone else who wants to break off for the 5 mins it takes to kill him and do it, so dispite the numerous hours i've been in BG's raking up kills and honor which i dont even really care about, i havent been able ot kill korrak.

I sooooo want this polearm but have no idea where I can find this dude in AV. A mate said he spawns after one hour of the current match has been played. I'm only level 52 and this weapon would last me quite some time.
BTW please stop complaining about level 51's and stuff having this weapon. If you're a level 60 or high 50's then you should be able to take down anyone with this weapon anyway. It will sure save me a few hundred gold that I was planning on saving for an Arcanite Reaper! :)

while they made getting this spear a bit easier as far as just winning a match. with the new AB battlegrounds on my server getting a AV instance up seems impossible.
so all you guys on low pop servers might still find it hard to get one. unless you get into AV as soon as the patch comes out, hopefully you'll get a bunch of guys that want this spear and will queue up AV.
when this first came out and the AV battleground was brand new i got in and this spear was the cat's meow so everyone wanted korrack and said to heck with winning the match. so i had mine pretty much the first few days of AV.
that all changed when the majority of pvp'ers got the spear and moved on to getting honor for the other rewards. it was hard to pry the group away from raiding to win the battle to go for the spear.
so good luck guys i hope you get yours!

In the new patch, you cant get this spear anymore, as they have removed the quest, but you sitll can get it by doing another quest, in which you just have to in AV and on stormscale thats like 1 in a million

- On the horde side the quest to get this is "The battle for Alterac" outside of the entrance. You must then win the BG by killing General Vanndar Stormpike (he is deep within the ally base). Once you get credit for killing this guy, you can turn in the quest (which has no rewards besides gold). You will immediately get another quest whose sole purpose is to reward you with your choice of items, one of which is this polearm.

ok, so the new quest is called "The Battle of Alterac" (as seen here: http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=7141), then as soon as you finish this quest (which entails winning AV), you instantly get another quest called "Hero of the Stormpike" (which thottbot doesnt even have listed), the sole purpose of which is to offer you all the old rewards you could get in the old quest (seen here on thottbot: http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=7202).

ok i have spoken to this guy outside the entrance to AV in alterac mountains, and all he gives me is some quest about taking a banner, have i got to do that quest before i do this one or am i not high enough level for this quest? (im level 51)
what are all the rewards though? someone said something about a mace........

A long time ago I completed the Korrak quest and got the Bloodseeker crossbow, then just recently I turned in the quest for an AV win and BAM! Got the ice barbed spear! ...had the option for another bloodseeker, but sadly cannot dual wield crossbows... next patch maybe? =P
youd better have a damn good skill in polearms because it wont deal much damage without it!
i only deal like 50 damage on a lvl 53 (im lvl 51 atm) ive got 144 of 155 (the 1 could be reokaced with a 2, i dont remember) as my polearm skill...
and it depends on the pvp state of your realm how hard it is, dunemaul for example has alot of high ranked players on both sides with makes it very hard for both teams to push the others back
i gotta say it was a very hard battle for me, lagg, 3 times lost..

You get this quest from an NPC in Alterac mountains, just outside the entrance to the battle ground.
If you're alliance, the NPC you get the quest from is named Prospector Stonehewer. As you're facing the cave to enter the BG, he's just outside of the cave, on the right.
If you're horde, the NPC you get this quest from is named Voggah Deathgrip. I'd assume that he's right outside the horde's entrance to the BG.
For either faction, the name of the quest is, "The Battle for Alterac". When you first get the quest, it will only show the reward as being 2 gold, 70 silver. To complete this initial quest, just win an AV match (easy, huh?) :) Then after turning in this quest, speak with that same NPC again, and you'll be prompted to choose your reward for a new quest (Hero of something or other) That's where you get the spear, x-bow, or other rewards that you would previously have gotten from killing Korrak.
Just finally got my spear last night after many many nights in AV. Can't wait to get home today, pump up my polearm skill (currently at 1) and try this thing out. Should be great for the hunter drive-by.

all you have to do is win a AV and then talk to the guy that gives you the quest for to kill vannder stormpike and turn that quest in and then after that he will ask you to complete quest and then he asks you to complete quest agian and u get the polearm

Ice Barbed Spear is a very very good weapon. I used it from level 53 to 60 and it was awesome :D This weapon is perfect for those who are having trouble getting a good weapon. It's perfect for hunters and warriors and anyone else that can use it. Agility for hunters crit and stam and stre for warriors

I am a lvl 50 warrior and I cannot decide which is better to lead me on to 60; Kang the decapitator or the Ice Barbed Spear. I have no skill in polearms but that can be easily fixed. And I have the gold for Kang. The proc for Kang is great, but the stats for the spear are too...

Dude, Ice Barbed FTW! It has just as good stats and it's free! One winning game of AV and you're set, not to mention you can keep the gold for your epic mount instead of blowing it on a weapon that will eventually become obsolete to you.

Some of the people in game have been telling me that This spear has its own natural icy enchant, however, the weapon doesnt say anything about that and i want to add on agility, am i screwing anything about the weapon up by putting one of my weapon agility enchants on it?
This weapon looks like it has the Icy enchant on it, because it has the frosty glowy effect. However, it doesn't actually proc the icy enchant, so if you want Icy on it, you have to apply it yourself.
this is an awsome spear, and many hunters choose it after they win in AV, however if i got to change some stuff i did earlyer in the game this would be one.
as a hunter i picked the spear thinking it would be the best one to choose because of the agil, but what i forgot that i had a hunter quest that i got at lvl 50 with another very fine spear, what i wish i had done is that i picked the crossbow and picked the polearm from the hunter quest instead, don't get me wrong the ice barbed spear is a very good spear, but i still wish i had chosen the crossbow instead.
